Kandi Curtis

I am an artist of all styles, however I mainly work in mixed media. I utilize photo technology enhancement when creating many mixed media artworks.

Since early childhood I have been drawing and painting. I cannot remember a time I didn’t know how and would teach my neighborhood friends how to draw when I was just 8 years old.

In my early 20’s I studied Graphic Design at Illinois Central College, which is evident in some of my art styles. I spent most of my 30’s and 40’s raising a family and working in factories. It wasn’t until 2013 that I began putting 100% into my art studies and composition. At that time I started my Facebook page and created my pseudonym Kandi Apple Art. I started an online gallery at www.kandiappleartgallery.com featuring my artwork in 2015.

Currently, I sell my artwork on Facebook and directly. I decided to join the Illinois Art League in 2016 so I could interact with fellow artists and have public viewings of my artwork. Through my involvement with the League, I have participated in several art viewings, shows and sales throughout Central Illinois.

In 2017 I had a joint art show at the Time Gallery in East Peoria with Sharon Somers, and we teamed up again for a show in 2019. After participating in several Illinois Art League member shows, I won an honorable mention in 2018 for my artwork entitled “Water”

I participated in several Peoria Historical Society Annual Rennick Art Shows, and in 2019 I won an honorable mention for my artwork titled “Vanna Whitewall”. Also in 2019 I became the Board Volunteer Chair and President in June 2020.

At the 2020 Member show I was awarded Honorable Mention for my “Sunset Beach” piece.
