Jackie Colgan

I am a former special education teacher who always enjoyed drawing as a child and young adult. In particular, I’ve always been drawn to the transparency of watercolor. In 2012 I decided to try my hand at watercolor and found that I really enjoyed the challenges of this medium!


I started painting watercolors, initially, then began to explore other mediums. In addition to watercolor, I particularly enjoy photography, alcohol inks and sketching!


The impetus for my art is twofold: immersing myself in the creation of art provides me with an opportunity to escape from this turbulent world we currently live in, losing myself in the creative process; and by sharing my art with friends and loved ones, as well as on Instagram, I hope to provide others with their own means of escape and in some small way, brighten their day. The inspiration for my art comes from nature, my garden and my travels. My goal is to continue my artistic endeavors, long into the future, and to enjoy the journey along the way.
