When I joined the IAL in 1997 as a rank amateur, I immediately came under the genial tutelage of its membership at Fall Saturday Seminar. The richness of the generous sharing of experience among the membership had then, and continues, to serve as a goad and goal, I credit for my joy in accomplishment these intervening years.
Confident in the use of various mediums I jumped into pursuing new expressions, pushing subtle limits. I chose an emphasis on designed compositions, insightful, playful, and engaging. I try to elicit comment; I want the viewer ‘pulled in’, to ‘get it’; and I choose the technique that will make that happen.
I don’t know all my patrons, but I take my sales as if all made by one person who says: “I like this; I like that.” And I try to please this imaginary person.
