Barbie Perry

Barbie Perry

“My expressions of beauty or chaos erupt through my photography and more recently printmaking. The tension created by fear i.e. failure, rejection, or awkward self-revelation and love i.e. the thrill of creating and discovery, is a personal challenge that fascinates and compels me.”

“We may nurture and empower ourselves as well as the people with whom we share work. Disciplining one’s self to learn new techniques, processing life experiences through the creative process and the potential to allow others’ artistic expressions to affect my being, are the driving forces which keep me motivated and encouraged to share my love of texture, form and color.”

Barbie is a Peoria native and has lived most of her in Central Illinois. She is currently a Resident Artist at the Prairie Center of the Arts (PCA) in Peoria. She also works in her home studio in Metamora, Illinois. The PCA is a fully equipped print shop which “provides artists with opportunities for research and development of new work, by providing an accessible facility for art and creativity.”
